Top 5 Family Events This Weekend - March 9th-11th

The sun is shining and the outdoors are calling!  Get out there this weekend and explore the Fredericksburg/Stafford/DC area this weekend with your loved ones.  Here is my list of the top five family events this weekend:

1. Ice Breaker Bass Tournament

Motts Run Reservoir 6600 River Road

Fredericksburg VA 22401

March 10th, 8am

Who doesn't love fishing?!  My kids have recently taken a liking to fishing.  What better way to foster your kids love of fishing than the Ice Breaker Bass Tournament.  The tournament starts at 8am and ends with weigh in at 3pm.  The cost is $50 per team.  Bring your own gear.  Boat rentals will be available.  And the best part?  The event benefits the Kids' Fishing Derby on June 2nd.

2.  Second Saturdays at the Fredericksburg Area Museum

907 Princess Anne Street

Fredericksburg VA 22401

March 10th, 11am-12pm

The Fredericksburg Area Museum is continuing its Second Saturday program.  The program is free and open to the public.  At the event, staff from the Tri-County City Soil & Water Conservation District and the Fredericksburg Area Museum will be conducting water and soil-based science experiments. They will be discussing the Fredericksburg watershed and how we affect the river we are built around. Registration is requested.

3.  2018 Atlantic Ten Men's Basketball Championship

601 F Street NW, Washington, DC 20004

March 9th-March 12th

If your family loves basketball I'm sure they'll love going to the 2018 Atlantic Ten Men's Basketball Championship at the Capital One Arena.  The games run from Friday-Sunday.  For tickets go to the Capital One Arena website.

4.  Rock N'Roll DC Marathon

If you are a runner, then this is the event for you.  Saturday is the Rock N' Roll DC Marathon.  Rock N' Roll Marathons are unique in that there is live music throughout the course.  You can choose from a 5K, half marathon, or full marathon.  If you don't run, come out and cheer on the runners and listen to some great live music.

5.  We Can Do It: Women in Aviation and Space

14390 Air and Space Museum Parkway
Chantilly, VA 20151

March 10th, 10am-3pm

This is a great event for kids of all ages!  The event takes place at the Udvar Hazy Center in Virginia.  You will get to meet a female F-16 pilot, STEM professionals, air traffic controllers, and Catherine Barclay from NASA.  There will also be a treasure map, a LEGO robot, a flight simulator, and a photo station.
