Newborn FAQ's

When should I book my newborn session?

The best time to book a newborn session is about two months prior to your due date. We will then schedule a tentative date. The best time to photograph a newborn baby is between 4-14 days old.

What happens once my baby is born?

When your baby is born please call me or email me within one to two days of birth so that we can schedule a firm date for the photo session.

What should I expect the day of the photo session?

Please come to the session as relaxed as possible. There is no hurry. I know what it's like having a newborn and sometimes it means arriving a few minutes late to an appointment. If your baby is hungry before you leave for the session, by all means feed him. If your baby hasn't eaten before the session don't worry. I have allowed plenty of time for feedings and diaper changes during the session. Once your baby is nice and sleepy and your baby's clothes have been removed we will begin the session. I will take posed photos for as long as your baby will allow. If at any time your baby becomes unsettled I will hand him off to you for a feeding or a cuddle. The photo session will take anywhere from 1-3 hours depending on how sleepy and settled your baby is.

What should I bring to the photo session?

Be sure and wear cool clothes, as I keep my studio warm for the sake of your baby. If you can, it would be helpful to bring your partner, friend, or a parent to the session. I like to have another adult close by the baby in case he or she moves while I am photographing. That way mama can relax and enjoy watching the photo session.  Also, please bring formula if your baby is formula fed and plenty of diapers.

Can the newborn photo session take place in my own home?

I would be happy to discuss the session taking place at your house.
